About Us
Girls Can Dream Too unlocks the potential of every girl and woman of colour, empowering them to reclaim their voices and their futures.
Girls Can Dream Too was founded with a mission to provide young black women education, resources and support to lead mentally healthy lives. GCDT’s mission is grounded in research, focus group findings, and personal experiences highlighting the under-served and underrepresented mental health needs of young black women.
Girls Can Dream Too envisions a society that through the normalization and dialogue surrounding mental wellness, all individuals, including young African American females are provided education, support and resources necessary to lead positively mentally healthy lives.
Our Mission
It is our mission to dismantle barriers and remove obstacles in order to create pathways of success for girls of colour today and for future generations.
Our Vision
It is our vision to see girls of colour empowered, thriving, and living full and equal lives to the fullest of their potential.
It’s so great to meet you!
It is my greatest joy to share Girls Can Dream Too with you. I’ve always been passionate about seeing girls and women of colour empowered to command their destinies and live them out boldly.
This organization was birthed out of my personal experiences with teenage pregnancy, abuse, homelessness and poverty. I have taken those experiences, that turned into lessons and offer my community hope for a better tomorrow.
GCDT was designed with you in mind–I get you Sis! I believe that when given the right atmosphere, tools and resources; anything is possible. My promise is to walk with you, be your biggest cheerleader and provide the support, access and exposure you need to become the best version of yourself.
Are you ready? Great! let’s go, I dare you to DREAM.
With Love,
